This section applies to OpenWings Daily, provided by
OpenWings Wellness Pvt. Ltd., with Android package name
com.openwingswellness.daily, and describes version 3.0.0 of the app
and later. The app offers guided breathing, guided meditations and yoga, short
wellness activities and programmes, daily habits, a Journal where you can write
or speak what is on your mind, reflection cards, a routine for tomorrow,
reminders, and a view of your progress.
The app is designed to work offline, and every feature described below runs on your device unless this section says otherwise. It is not, however, an app without network access: Section 9.3 lists every request it can make, and when.
The app stores the following in its private storage on your device:
Your streak, your garden and the patterns on My progress are calculated on the device from this history. Any models you download, as described in Section 9.5, are also kept on the device until you delete them. The app follows your phone's text size; it reads that setting and stores nothing about it.
None of the information in Section 9.1 is collected by us. The app does not transmit it to OpenWings Wellness or to third parties, and we cannot view or retrieve it. The app has no account or login, no advertising, no analytics or tracking SDKs, and no cloud sync. It does not ask for your email address, payment details, location, contacts or health records, and it does not read Health Connect data, your contacts, your camera, any file other than one you pick yourself (Section 9.9), or anything about the other apps on your phone. It never receives your fingerprint, face or PIN (Section 9.12). There are no payments, subscriptions, messaging or appointment booking inside the app; "Talk to a counsellor" only opens our website (Section 9.13), and references to those services elsewhere in this policy concern our other services. The app's Android configuration disables app backup and excludes app data from Android cloud backup and device transfer. The search model bundled with the app sends no telemetry.
The app can contact the following, and nothing else. In each case the request carries no account, no identifier, and no information about you or your use of the app. As with any request to any server, the server receiving it can see your device's IP address, which hosting providers commonly log for security and capacity purposes.
content.openwingswellness.com. The app downloads a small file
of new activities, quotes, programmes and seasonal notes, at most a few
times a day, while "Fresh content from OpenWings" is on. It is on by default
and can be turned off in Settings → Privacy and your data;
the content bundled with the app keeps working without it.huggingface.co, its hf.co download servers and
cdn.jsdelivr.net, and only while a download you started is
running. See Section 9.5.The app blocks its own pages from reaching any other address. "Our website" and "Talk to a counsellor" open our website in your own browser, outside the app, after which your browser's and our website's practices apply.
The app can turn what you say into text in the Journal, in "Put a thought down" on Today and in Explore's search. It asks for Android's microphone permission the first time you use one of these, and the microphone is open only while you are speaking: you tap to start and tap again to finish. The app itself never stores or sends audio, and the text that comes back is discarded unless you choose to keep it.
There are two ways your speech can be turned into text.
Guided meditations and yoga cues are played from audio recordings bundled with the app. Only a line that has no recording falls back to your device's own text-to-speech voice, which is given just that line. You can turn the voice off before a practice or in Settings.
Under Settings → Speaking and search → Downloads you can
choose to download optional models: speech to text, offered in two sizes, and a
small writing helper. Nothing is downloaded unless you tap Download. They are
plain files, fetched at fixed versions from their public sources — Hugging Face
(huggingface.co and its hf.co download servers) and
jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net) — and kept on your device until you
delete them there. Every file is checked against a fingerprint built
into the app before it is kept or used, so a file that has been changed
on the way is refused. Downloading one reveals your device's IP address to those
services, under their own privacy terms; the app sends them nothing about you.
Once downloaded, the models run entirely on your device. The writing helper only
ever suggests text you see first, and nothing it writes is saved unless you keep
it.
The "Search or ask" box in Explore understands plain requests. A set of fixed rules answers most of them; anything else is handled by a small open-source model (Needle 3 by Cactus Compute) that is packaged inside the app and runs on your device. What you type or say there is processed on your phone and is not sent anywhere; the model has no network access, and it is never trained or adjusted using anything you write.
It can only trigger actions you could carry out yourself in the app — logging a mood, starting a practice, opening an activity, saving a line, setting a reminder, starting a phone-down break, opening the Journal or My progress, or changing quiet mode, the soundscape or the narrator. It asks before saving a line or changing a setting. It does not give advice, and it is not used to choose the suggestions described in Section 9.7. Every result carries a "Report a wrong action" control: tapping it prepares a short text containing what you said and what the app chose, which is sent only if you then choose to share it, for example by emailing it to us.
The one next step on Today, the routine proposed for tomorrow and the patterns on My progress are worked out on your device from what you have recorded in this app — the time of day, how you said you feel, your routine, a programme you started, what you have finished before and how you felt afterwards — using fixed rules and a small built-in word list rather than a model. After a practice the app may ask how you feel now; answering is optional, and the answer stays on your device with that practice.
The Journal editor is a blank page: nothing you type or say there is analysed, and nothing is stored unless you tap Keep. Words you keep are saved as they are. They are read only if you tap "Turn this into a card", and then only to draft a reflection card — your words, the time, a short pre-written line and one or two suggested practices — which you can keep or decline. When you save a short line elsewhere, the app may offer a mood, which you can accept or dismiss. None of this leaves your device, nothing is read from any other app, and the app does not claim that one thing caused another.
If you turn on a daily or evening reminder, the Android app schedules a local alarm on your device and shows a notification at the time you chose. This needs Android's notification permission, which the app asks for only when you turn a reminder on. Gentle nudges, at most one a day, are worked out on your device from what you did that day and use the same permission.
From version 3.1.0 you can also turn on check-ins while you are away, in Settings → Reminders; they are off unless you turn them on. When you leave the app, it asks Android for one quiet notification about three hours later, and at most one more three hours after that. The words are chosen on your device from your own use of the app, such as the time of day, how you said you feel, a programme you started or what helped you before. There are at most three a day, none between 11 pm and 7.30 am, and none within an hour of a reminder you set. Opening the app cancels any that are waiting. While check-ins are on, they include the gentle nudges. Nothing about them leaves your device.
In the evening the app can offer a few small moments for the next day in My routine, worked out on your device from how the day went. You can edit the list, add your own, or ignore it. If you keep a plan, the Android app sets local alarms so it can remind you at the times you chose, and it may ask in the morning whether you would like the day armed; nothing is scheduled until you agree. The reminder text is built on your device from the plan and can include a few words from something you wrote. A phone-down break likewise schedules one local alarm and, if you ask for it, one notification when the time is up.
These notifications never show their words on your lock screen. While the phone is locked they read only "A moment for you"; the text appears once you unlock. All of this is processed entirely on your device; nothing about it leaves the phone, and plan reminders and gentle nudges can be turned off in Settings.
Sharing is always started by you. A share card is drawn on your device, shown to you exactly as it will be sent, and only then handed to the app you pick in Android's share sheet. A progress card carries your streak, your session count, a quote and our logo. A reflection card carries the words you kept and the line written back to you, and your name and mood only if you switch them on. A weekly card carries its shape and a gentle line, and your kept words or how the week felt only if you switch them on. A share can also carry a short invitation with a link to OpenWings Daily on Google Play; you see it before sending, it says nothing about you, and you can switch it off. Nothing else from your history is on a card. Once shared, the receiving app's own privacy terms apply.
Backup and your words as a file. In Settings → Privacy and your data you can save a complete backup of everything the app keeps, or your words as a plain text file, to a place you choose in Android's own "save to" screen, and restore a backup on a new phone. The app is given only the one file you create or pick, needs no storage permission and sends the file nowhere. The file is not encrypted, so keep it somewhere private. Restoring replaces what is on the phone, after you confirm.
The app may ask for your first name, your gender, your age band (never an exact age or date of birth) and whether your days are mostly spent studying or working at a computer. Each is optional and can be left blank, set to "Prefer not to say", edited or cleared in Settings → About you at any time. They are stored on your device only and are never sent to us. The app uses them to greet you by name, to keep practice suggestions gentle for your age, to add a line about talking to a trusted adult in its support text if you are under 18, to offer activities written for study days or screen days, and to show content written for a particular group. Clearing your data removes them.
A guided meditation can keep playing while the screen is off. For this the app runs a foreground media session on your device, with a notification you can pause or stop, and keeps the processor awake only for the length of the meditation. That notification shows the practice's name and its controls on the lock screen, so it can be paused without unlocking. The optional home-screen widget shows your plant, your streak and a Breathe button, using a small summary the app keeps on your device. Neither makes any network request.
You can choose to lock the app in Settings → Privacy and your data. It is off unless you turn it on, and it needs a screen lock on your phone. When it is on, your phone's own fingerprint, face or screen lock opens the app, straight away or after the time away you choose. Android does the checking, through its standard biometric prompt, so the app never sees or stores your fingerprint, your face or your PIN; for this the app declares Android's "use biometric" permission, which Android grants at install time without asking you. Turning the lock on or off asks for your phone's lock first. While the lock is on, the app's screen is hidden in the list of recent apps and cannot be captured in a screenshot, and while the app is locked its content is covered and hidden from screen readers. Even while the app is locked, its cover offers a helpline number you can call (Section 9.13).
"I need a moment" offers a one-minute breath, a grounding exercise, a way to talk to a counsellor at OpenWings, and a Government helpline for anything that needs attention right now. Tapping the helpline opens your phone's own dialer with the number filled in; the app places no call itself and records nothing about it. "Talk to a counsellor", in "I need a moment" and in About OpenWings Daily, only opens our website in your browser; booking and payment for our counselling services happen there, under Sections 1–8 of this policy, and never inside the app.
When a newer version is available on Google Play, the app may offer it once on Today and in About OpenWings Daily. If you agree, Google Play downloads the update while you carry on and installs it when you choose to restart. The check and the download are made by the Google Play Store app on your phone, under Google's privacy policy; OpenWings receives nothing about you or your use of the app. You can say "Later", and the app will not offer the same version again for a week.
Information stored by the app remains on your device until you remove it. To remove it, open Settings → Privacy and your data → Clear data in the app and confirm, clear the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app. Clearing data is permanent and also turns reminders off. Updates installed over the same app normally retain your information. Downloaded models are deleted separately under Settings → Speaking and search → Downloads. Share cards are written to a temporary cache folder and removed within an hour.
The app provides no cloud backup, sync or recovery, so we cannot remotely recover, restore or delete what is stored on your device. A backup file you saved yourself (Section 9.9) can be restored from Settings. Because there is no account, no account-deletion request is required. Clearing local app data does not delete correspondence you separately sent to our support team.
For app support or privacy questions, email info@openwingswellness.com. If you choose to email us, we receive your sender address and the message and attachments you choose to send. We use that information to respond to and manage your request. Please do not send sensitive health records or information that is unnecessary for your request.
Email delivery and storage involve the email providers used by you and us. Support correspondence is retained as necessary to handle your request and meet applicable legal obligations. You may request deletion by contacting the same address; any required retention obligations still apply. This correspondence is separate from the information held on your device, which the app does not transmit.
App information is stored in the app's private storage under Android's application protections, and the app turns off Android backup for it. Reminders, nudges and routine notifications keep their words off the lock screen (Section 9.8; the sleep-mode player shows only the practice's name, Section 9.11), downloaded files are checked before use (Section 9.5), and you can add the app lock (Section 9.12). Without the app lock, someone with access to your unlocked device may be able to view your activity in the app, including what you have written. Keep your device secure. No storage or security method can guarantee absolute protection.
The app-specific statements in this section describe OpenWings Daily itself. They do not describe visiting this website or using Google Play, and they do not mean that either involves no data processing. When you open this privacy webpage, your browser requests content from our website hosting provider and, where loaded, Google Fonts. These requests can include your IP address, browser information, and the resource requested. Website and other online-service practices are addressed in Sections 1–8. Google Play, including its update service, and your email provider operate under their own privacy policies.
OpenWings Daily provides general wellness activities. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. Consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If things feel too heavy, please contact someone you trust or a local support service.
When the app's privacy practices change, we will update this section and its last-updated date, together with the app's privacy disclosures as appropriate. Contact info@openwingswellness.com if you have questions about OpenWings Daily or this policy.
