Lock Down Stress And How To Beat It

Today we are facing a huge disaster of CoronaVirus that we also known as COVID-19.

This is affecting almost the whole world and most affected countries are China, Italy, the United States, and Spain. In our country, India, cases of Corona infection are increasing day by day, so the Indian government decided to Lockdown the whole country until 3rd May. Due to the Lockdown, several people have started facing lots of stress issues like jobs, financial crises, food, isolation, boredom, etc.

Clinical and medical professionals who are working day and night serving affected people are also facing work stress.

How to Reduce stress?

This is a really tough time for us but we have to be strong and face this situation. If you are suffering any kind of stress, you need to understand that you are not alone. There are several people like you who are suffering a similar problem. We have to be supportive of each other and use proper precautions. Support and care will reduce our stress and anxiety level. You also need to understand that being in panic affects the immune system. So, you should be positive and motivate people around you to be positive.

  • If you are suffering emotional stress after seeing people suffering issues due to the Lockdown, you can donate money, food, daily use products or sanitation products.
  • If you see a destitute family, help them or report to the local administration to get some help for them.

By helping others, you will experience mental peace that will surely help you relieve some stress.

We can also do lots of other things during this period to reduce our stress.

Most of us always make lots of resolutions related to our daily routine or family but unable to complete them due to lack of time or any other reason.

Now when we don’t have to go to the office or school, we have good and enough time to accomplish those tasks. We can also use this time to learn new skills, develop new habits or work towards fitness. 21 days are enough to develop new habits or give a positive change in routine.

Learning a new skill will also help in our career post this Lockdown. So we have to think a bit positive and use this time positively to improve ourselves.

You can also do Yoga and meditation to reduce mental stress and physical fitness.

Think about what gives you pleasure. It could be your past time pass like painting, guitar, cooking, singing or computer gaming that you stopped doing overtime.

Now when you get enough free time, you can start those doing things back. You will surely feel good. If you like reading books, you can install the Kindle app on your phone to read eBooks. For fitness activities, there are several YouTube channels and fitness apps to help you.

You can use YouTubeUdemyCoursera or similar websites for learning things that you always wanted to learn like cooking, guitar or something that you couldn’t due to lack of time.

If you never had any such hobbies, you can make a new one and start engaging yourself in this.

While engaging yourself in several activities, don’t forget to give time to your family.

In today’s runaway life, we are unable to give proper time to our loved ones. So we have to spend this time ‘HUMARA TIME’ with them.

We can do lots of things together like watch movies, play indoor games (Antakshari, treasure hunt, puzzles, etc.) or discuss future plans, interests and other issues.

This will strengthen family bonding and you will also get some life lessons from elders.

If someone in your family or friend circle is in the medical or police department, then you should support and cheer up them to reduce their stress.

You cannot understand how much stress they could be feeling due to this overburden of work.
